I'm Britney U.
...and I'm a plus-sized Black woman who has a goal of experiencing as many cultures as possible, through my love of travel. Originally from Detroit, MI, I am a graduate of Kentucky State University - one of Kentucky's only historically Black colleges (HBCU)- where I received my bachelor's degree. I received my master's from Grand Valley State University.

Growing up, I've never traveled; I never experienced something as exciting as family trips or visiting a different city to see family for summer. It wasn't until I went to college and was granted the opportunity to travel through marching band in undergrad and through a study abroad experience in graduate school that I was able to truly experience and fall in love traveling.

A lil' loud. A lotta fun.

Staying put was never my thing
College gave me the green light to travel and I haven't stopped since. Of course the goal is to travel to every continent and to see the world. But my most important goal when traveling is to have an authentic experience that's beyond just the tourism that places have to offer. That's what made a lot of my traveling great, it's been unpolished, nontraditional and it's forced me out of my comfort zone in many different ways.

This blog was created to highlight my travel experiences and to talk about my personal transformation through these experiences. I hope to connect with someone who may be on the fence about trying something new, and they decide to just do whatever it is they aim to do. We only live once.
